We will be crazy if we let Muller leave - Rummenigge

The Red Devils have been linked with an astronomical bid for the Germany international forward but the Bundesliga club's CEO flatly rules out any chance of selling him.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has warned Manchester United that Thomas Muller "does not have a price tag", noting that his side would be "outright crazy if we let him leave".

Louis van Gaal's side have already signed Bastian Schweinsteiger from the Bundesliga champions this summer and reports claim that the Premier League side are willing to equal the world-record transfer fee to land his former Bayern team-mate.

Rummenigge, however, is adamant that Muller is priceless and cannot fathom the prospect of being talked into selling the World Cup winner.

"There are players who do not have a price tag," he told reporters of Muller. "Bayern would be outright crazy if we let him leave.

"We haven't received a phone call from Manchester United and there is no offer in existence.

"I know that Bastian Schweinsteiger had the extremely deserving nickname of 'the Football God' among fans... maybe now Muller can have that tag."

Rummenigge also insisted that "Juventus made no official transfer offer for Mario Gotze" amid reports that the former Borussia Dortmund star is set to end his two-year stay at the Allianz Arena.

"I have the impression Mario wants to stay, though," he added.
